How In Store Cash Deposits Work

In store cash deposits allow you to add funds to your Crypto Dispensers balance by paying cash at supported retail locations. These deposits run through Green Dot Bank’s national cash-loading network, the same system used by major fintechs such as PayPal, Chime, and others. The process is fast, secure, and simple when you follow the steps below.

Step 1: Select “Add Cash” Inside Your Dashboard

Start inside your Crypto Dispensers account. On your dashboard, select the Add Cash button. This takes you to the deposit setup screen where you can see:

Supported retail locations near you
Your deposit limits
A button to generate your barcode

Step 2: Generate Your Barcode

Select the Generate Barcode button. Once you do this, you will be asked to choose a store from the dropdown menu. Pick the specific retailer where you plan to make your deposit.

After selecting a store, your unique barcode will be created. You can:

Show it directly on your phone screen
Text the barcode to yourself
Print it on paper

Your barcode is what links your cash payment to your Crypto Dispensers account. The cashier must scan it before accepting your money.

Step 3: Visit a Supported Retailer

Bring your barcode to any participating store. Supported locations include CVS, Love’s, Winn-Dixie, Tops, Office Depot, Giant, Weis, and other stores available through Green Dot Bank’s national cash-loading network.

These stores do not sell Bitcoin and they do not know what Crypto Dispensers is. They only know Green Dot Bank, which is the cash-loading provider.

Step 4: Tell the Cashier Exactly What to Do

To avoid confusion, use one of the following phrases when speaking to the cashier:

“I want to add cash to my account using my barcode.”
“Can you scan my barcode so I can add cash to my account?”
“This is a Green Dot reload barcode. I need to load cash to my account.”

Do not mention Bitcoin or Crypto Dispensers at the register. Cashiers only recognize Green Dot Bank reload barcodes. Mentioning Bitcoin may cause them to refuse the transaction or think you are being scammed.

Step 5: Pay Cash at the Register

After the cashier scans your barcode, hand them the cash amount you want to deposit. They will process the payment and provide a printed receipt. Keep the receipt until your funds appear in your Crypto Dispensers balance.

Step 6: Funds Post to Your Balance

Most deposits post in real time. Some stores may take a short time to validate the payment. Your balance updates automatically once the deposit is confirmed by the network.

Step 7: Purchase Bitcoin Through Your Dashboard

Once your cash deposit posts to your Crypto Dispensers balance, you can use the available funds to purchase Bitcoin through your dashboard. Before confirming your purchase, you will be able to review the order details, including pricing, fees, and the amount of Bitcoin you will receive After the purchase is completed, your Bitcoin can be sent to any wallet address you personally own and control.
